Senior Security Officer (m/f/d)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Security Officer to lead and strengthen organizational security risk management in a complex international environment. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security strategies that ensure the safety of personnel, assets, operations, and reputation across multiple geographies.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise aligned with internationally recognized frameworks (e.g., ASIS CPP, UNDSS Security Certification Programme (SCP)), combined with strategic insight and operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Security Risk Management

  • Lead comprehensive security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies across organizational operations
  • Monitor global risk environments and provide timely threat analysis and advisory to leadership
  • Ensure alignment with international best practices in enterprise security management

Policy, Governance & Compliance

  • Develop, review, and implement security policies, standards, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and duty-of-care obligations
  • Maintain security frameworks consistent with ISO standards and recognized NGO/UN practices

Operational Security

  • Oversee incident management, investigations, and crisis response coordination
  • Develop and maintain business continuity and emergency response plans
  • Provide guidance on travel security, site security, and event security

Capacity Building & Advisory

  • Deliver security training and awareness programmes to staff
  • Advise senior leadership on security strategy and risk acceptance decisions
  • Act as a key focal point for internal and external stakeholders on security matters

Coordination & External Engagement

  • Liaise with host country authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners
  • Participate in relevant security networks and coordination platforms

Profile & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Advanced degree in Security Management, International Relations, Risk Management, or related field
  • Minimum 8?10 years of progressive experience in security risk management
  • Experience in international organizations, NGOs, or multilateral environments strongly preferred

Technical Competencies (Required)

  • Professional certification such as:
    • CPP (Certified Protection Professional ? ASIS International)
    • UNDSS Security Certification Programme (SCP) or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Security risk management frameworks
    • Crisis management and incident response
    • Business continuity planning
    • Physical and personnel security

Skills

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work in high-pressure and rapidly evolving environments
  • Proven leadership and project management capabilities

Languages

  • Fluency in English required
  • Knowledge of French or other languages is an asset
