Description of the company

AIX System Engineer

We are looking for an experienced AIX System Engineer to join a high-performing platform team responsible for mission-critical infrastructure across AIX and Linux environments.

Your role
You will take ownership of maintaining, optimizing and modernizing enterprise infrastructure, ensuring stability, performance and scalability across complex systems.



Role & Responsibilities

· Your responsibilities

· Design, implement and maintain AIX-based systems including LPARs, VIO, NIM and HMC/IVM.

· Operate and enhance Linux and Unix environments, including storage, hardware and network layers

· Drive infrastructure projects and continuously improve existing platforms

· Provide 2nd level support within an established support organization, including on-call duties.

· Ensure compliance with security policies, backup strategies and change management processes.

· Automate operational tasks using Ansible

Candidate Profile

Your profile

· Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

· 5+ years hands-on experience with IBM AIX (7.1–7.3)

· Strong experience with enterprise storage (SAN, NFS, GPFS) and virtualization (PowerVM)

· Experience with LPAR/VIO environments

· 3+ years Linux administration experience (RHEL preferred)

· Solid scripting skills (Shell, Python, Ansible)

· Good understanding of ITIL methodologies

· Fluent in English, German is an advantage

· Structured, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skill

· Ability to prioritize, take ownership and perform under pressure Willingness to travel occasionally (5–10%)
