Senior Test Automation Engineer (m/f/d)  

As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated Senior Test Automation Engineer for a temporary assignment of 1 year, with high probability of extension.

In this sensitive environment where precision is critical, the Test Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring that software algorithms and hardware interfaces function flawlessly. The candidate acts as a Software Engineer in Test (SET) and utilizes modern methods such as Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) to bridge the gap between requirements and technical implementation. As a Test Automation Engineer, the candidate is jointly responsible for the design, development, and implementation of automated test strategies for the molecular diagnostic platforms of Roche.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Development and implementation of automated test strategies for a complex overall system in molecular diagnostics.
• Active application of Behavior-Driven Development to translate requirements into executable specifications (e.g., using Cucumber).
• Construction and maintenance of test frameworks using tools similar to Selenium, Appium, or SpecFlow, supplemented by specific libraries for controlling laboratory robots.
• Evaluation and integration of commercial robot arms (e.g., Cobots) as well as participation in the development of internal robotics tools to simulate user interactions on the device.
• Use of ALM tools such as Codebeamer to manage requirements and test cases and to ensure traceability.
• Responsibility for automated quality assurance within the DevOps pipelines (e.g., GitHub and Azure DevOps).
• Ensuring data integrity from the barcode scan of the patient sample to the final analysis of the PCR result.
• Supporting the creation of test plans, protocols, and reports in accordance with ISO 13485 and other relevant regulatory standards.

Must-Haves

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Medical Technology, or a comparable qualification.
• Min. 5 years of experience in software development.
• Min. 5 years of experience in development of automated test strategies and implementation of test frameworks.
• Experienced Programmer: Sound experience in software development and mastery of clean coding principles.
• Automation & BDD Expert: Proficient in using tools such as Selenium, with desired knowledge of BDD tools like Cucumber or SpecFlow.
• ALM Know-how: Experience with Application Lifecycle Management tools, ideally Codebeamer.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Proficient in handling Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in GitHub or Azure DevOps.
• Analytical Talent: Ability to familiarize oneself with the logic of complex diagnostic systems.

Nice-to-Haves

• Knowledge of Rust is a strong plus, as the company values performance and type safety.
• Experience in controlling actuators/sensors or integrating robots into test procedures. Knowledge of Standard in Laboratory Automation (SiLA).
